Abstract

This study evaluated the effects of 35% hydrogen peroxide irradiated or not and the fluoridated dentifrice (FD) on bovine dental enamel with caries-like lesions. Two bleaching agents (Whiteness HP Maxx and Easy White) and 3 applications mode (no irradiation, irradiated with halogen lamp or LED/diode laser) were tested. The bleaching procedures were performed at 1st, 6th and 12th days of pH cycling. Microhardness results showed no statistical difference among experimental groups after pH cycling. For light polarized microscopy evaluation, all groups presented superficial and subsuperficial enamel demineralization. FD was not able to control the mineral loss promoted by bleaching procedures, suggesting caution in applying the dental bleaching agents on caries-like lesions condition.
