Demographic profile of the labor force in Pediatric Dentistry in the state of Rio de Janeiro/Brazil

Abstract

This article aims to describe the demographic profile of the labor force in Pediatric Dentistry in the state of Rio de Janeiro/Brazil. Therefore, secondary data referring to gender, city of location and duration of dental practice were collected from the database of the Federal Council of Dentistry on a censitary perspective. Those data were crossed with others concerning the estimated population and the GDP per capita of each city, obtained from the National Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). The databank and the statistical analysis were performed with the software SPSS for Windows 16.0. The results show that the labor force in Pediatric Dentistry in Rio de Janeiro is mostly young, feminine and highly concentrated on the larger cities
