Guidelines for use of radiographs in clinical Pediatric Dentistry

Abstract

This work presents a guideline for orientation in the prescribing of radiographic examinations for pediatric patients. To radiographic examination, a flowchart with categories is proposed: new or returning patient, and patient with suspected abnormalities. New patients or returns, are considered the age group younger than 6 years and 6 to 12 years, respectively. This flowchart in the prescribing of radiographic examinations for pediatric patients will reduce costs, dose of radiation received for the patient, beyond assisting the professional in the accomplishment and/or prescribing of radiographic examinations.
