In vitro evaluation of antimicrobial activity of mouthrinses
Abstract
The potential antimicrobial of different mouthrinses: Periogard®, Plax®, Oral-B®, Flogoral® e Listerine® were evaluated in vitro, using the following strains: Pseudomonas aeroginosa, Eschericuia coli, Candida albicans, Staphilococcus aureos, Staphilococcus epidermides and Enterococcus faecalis, by difusion in Müller Hinton agar, which was
distributed in 25 ml aliquots on sterile Petri plates. Five discs of filter paper were placed in points at similar distances and were soaked with 20 µl of each mouthrinses tested. The reading of inhibition halos was performed after 48 hours. The best mean results were Periogard®, Plax®.
