Luciana Leite de Melo, Ignez Hora, Marta Rabello Piva

Abstract

Osseous choristoma is a tumour-like mass of normal
bony structure in an abnormal position. The goal of
this paper is to report a case of an oral osseous choristoma.
Clinical examination showed a firm, pink-coloured,
nodular pedunculated lesion with approximately
10mm, asymptomatic, located on the posterior third of
the dorsum of tongue, with presumptive diagnosis of increased
lymphatic tissue. An excisional biopsy was performed,
rendering a diagnosis of osseous choristoma.
There was no recurrence after a 6-month follow-up.
