Abstract

The study evaluated the fracture resistance (FR) of bovine roots weakened and restored with different intra-root retention systems. Were selected seventy bovine roots distributed between retention systems and restored with metal crowns. The results were analyzed by one-way Anova and Tukey test, which revealed that the control group with weakened root presented the highest FR means. The lowest FR means were found for the group Ribbond. In the study can be concluded that dental structure preservation is the main factor that contributes for root FR. Composite resin was able to reinforce the dental remnant and intra-root retention systems contributed for the increase in fracture strength of weakened roots.
