Abstract

The dental practices expose the trader to contamination risks of infectious diseases. In order to assess the degree of knowledge of dentists about the risk factors and methods of preventing infection by hepatitis B and C, was applied a questionnaire consisting of open and closed questions to one hundred randomly selected professionals in the municipality of Rio de Janeiro. Although 86% of participants considered themselves according to the official regulations of the Ministry of Health, there is still much to be modified in the routine of professionals. Though much of the dental surgeons have an injury perforating-cutting, their knowledge about the risks and ways of contamination is not satisfactory.
