Fluoride release of orthodontic cements with and without immediate protection
Abstract
The objective of the author of this study was to
evaluate the fluoride release of 3 Glass ionomer cement,
with and without immediate protection of fluoride varnish (Cavitine, SSWhite), divided in 6 groups: Groups M(sv) and M(cv) (Meron, Voco), V(sv) and V(cv) (Vidrion C, DFL), KC(sv) and KC(cv) (Ketac-Cem, 3M Espe) without (sv) and with (cv) protection, respectively. The fluoride release was measured during 33 days, with electrode selective ion connected to an analyzer of ions. Results showed that the immediate protection significantly influenced the fluoride released only during a 1-hour period. The cements Vidrion C and Meron showed better performance.
