Abstract

Clinical evaluation is not always sufficient for a conclusive diagnosis. The aim of this study was to evaluate the utilization of the intraoral video camera in the diagnosis of the lesions. The sample consisted of 180 patients, and 105 lesions were documented and biopsied. The lesions biopsied were grouped and histopathological diagnosis was the gold-standard. There was a 89% match between histopathological diagnosis and the clinical diagnosis aided by the videoroscopy and oroscopy. The conclusion is videoroscopy aided in the visualization of the oral lesions, and mainly lesions in difficult areas, incipient lesions or with little thickness and/or little size
