Sterility maintenance time of materials stored in different wrappers
Abstract
The maintenance of the sterility of the dental instruments
is related to the barrier capacity of the packaging used for its storage. The present essay aimed to verify the period during which the rustproof steel material can be stored, preserving its sterility, considering the wrapper being used. Eleven different wrappers with biological indicators were sterilized in hot air oven or autoclave were stored for six weeks, and incubated for eight days. The condition of sterility was maintained for the packaging sterilized in autoclave for five weeks, and those sterilized in the hot air oven for three weeks.
