Abstract

The objective of this study was to analyse the internal von Mises stress in a metalloceramic and in two all-ceramic systems three-unit fixed partial prosthesis, by a static loading applied on mathematics two-dimensional models, obtained from finite elements method. From a printed image of an anatomic study piece digitalized directly in a scanner, drawings were made and their vector images exported to the software MSC/PATRAN and the analysis was done using a loading of 100N distributed on 17 points of the models’ occlusal surfaces. In all of the models, the largest stress concentrations were located inside the
posts and in the medium-inferior area of the connectors. The two ceramic systems behaved satisfactorily in comparison with metalloceramic.
