Acid erosion in Pediatric Dentistry: a challenge of our days

Abstract


Acid erosion is defined by located loss, chronic and pathological of mineral tissue, which is chemically removed from the tooth surface through chelating acid or substances without bacterial involvement. In recent years has been observed an increase in prevalence of injuries arising from acid erosion in children and adolescents. Thus, the purpose of this paper is to present a review of literature on acid erosion in Pediatric Dentistry, highlighting their main features, etiologic agents, as well as alternatives for its prevention and treatment.
