Effect of storage temperature on the composite cohesive strength
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the diametral tensile strength (DTS) of a resin composite at different storage temperatures. Twelve cylindrical specimens were fabricated (n = 6), and they were divided into two groups: G1-resin at room temperature (25ºC) and G2- resin polymerized immediately after removal from the refrigerator (5ºC). Each specimen was inserted in three increments, each one was light-cured for 40 seconds. The test was performed at a speed of 1.0 mm/min until failure. The DTS was calculated (MPa)
and the results statistically analyzed by Student’s t-test (p > 0,05). The storage temperature had no effect on cohesive strength of the composite used in this study.
