Role of the surgeon dentist in ICU: a new paradgm

Abstract


The dental care to hospitalized patients suffering from systemic diseases contribute effectively to recover from these. The magnitude of the dental hospital in maintaining the oral health of patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) bringing an improvement in the patient's system to avoid an increased proliferation of anaerobic bacteria and fungi and Gram-negative infections and systemic diseases represent risk for the patient's health particularly nosocomial infection. The objective of this study was to conduct a review of the literature, seeking information about the Dental Hospital in Brazil.
