The importance of dental records – with emphasis on digital documents

Abstract

The present research has sought to determine the main components of the dental records, to investigate the real time period for dental records retention and to explain to professionals in Dentistry the important concepts of Digital Signature Certification for the use of digital records. A literature review has concluded that the Dental Records recommended by the Federal Council of Dentistry (CFO) is likely to be achieved by any professional. The ideal time for retaining dental records should be aligned with the Consumer Protection Code and the Digital Dental Records can be used. The Digital Certification performed by ICP-Brazil is a safe method and it is recognized by the Judiciary to verify the authenticity of a digital document
