CO2 laser in the control of enamel demineralization: a critical analysis
Abstract
Facing controlling difficulty processes of enamel demineralization, new technologies are being studied as the use of CO2 laser irradiation. Thus, the purpose of this study was to present a critical literature review about the CO2 laser i n t he e namel demineralization control by addressing its mechanism of action in enamel, usage parameters for the dental structure and its association with fluoride agents. The CO2 laser seems to be a promising method for the enamel demineralization control, however, more studies are needed for the clinical usage. The synergistic effect on fluoride, even with different agents, showed positive results in the enamel demineralization control.
