Abstract

The aim of this study was to assess the quality of three portable darkrooms and three radiographic films commercially available analyzing the base density plus fog (BDPF) and contrast digitally. Were used 72 periapical radiographic films, Agfa®, Dentix® and Kodak®, divided into four groups subjected to different processing devices. The films were processed, scanned and analyzed using the software Image Tool®. The film Agfa®, a statistically significant difference in BDPF in relation to groups occurred. The Dentix®, BDPF and contrast of the control group differed significantly. In Kodak®, the BDPF was unchanged in all groups. BDPF Kodak® film remained constant throughout the portable darkrooms, unlike other films. The contrast of the three radiographic films has changed.
