Abstract

The aim of this study was to collect scientific data about failures in veneers. The review was conducted through a search of original articles on that subject in journals listed in Pubmed, from 1990 to 2010. The selected articles were primarily related to: event planning, material selection, types and preparation techniques, surface treatment of tooth /restoration, luting and longevity of the procedure. The most critical stage in the technique of laminate veneers is luting. The incorrect indication of the case for treatment and the preparation design are also cited as the main targets of failures. The technique of laminate veneers is a sensitive technique. However, the literature shows that when footsteps are followed, it has a high success rate.
