Abstract

This case report describes diagnosis and treatment of a rare oral pathology: intravascular papillary endothelial hyperplasia. A young female patient had a reddish, nodular lesion on the lateral border of tongue with positive diascopy. Histopathological features included caliber blood vessels with a well-circumscribed lesion composed by abundant papillary structures lined by endothelium (vimentin+, collagenIV+ and CD31+). Complete healing occurred 4 months after final surgery, without recurrence after 5 years of follow-up. This lesion can mimic the angiosarcoma, so the differential diagnosis and correct treatment are very important.
