Abstract

Correct professional conduct in taking the preliminary dental history is paramount in giving a true and reliable picture of the condition of the mouth of the worker. This research proposes the minimum basic questions required in taking a dental history, describing the questions and developing them, in order to formulate a basic preliminary dental recording. This research further analyses the importance of dental recording that is detailed and well-executed. We can conclude that a badly executed dental examination or no dental examination at all, entails financial and administrative costs, both for the employee and the employer. The preliminary dental history also attests to the employee’s state of health from the first day of work and so gives legal protection to both employee and employer.
