Marsupialization of an extensive Odontogenic Keratocyst in the anterior mandibular region
Abstract
The odontogenic keratocyst is a lesion which presents
specific clinical and microscopic behavior. The
treatment can be decompression, marsupialization and
enucleation, followed by auxiliary procedures because
of the high recurrence rates. The aim of this study is
to present a case where the radiographic exam showed
an extensive unilocular radiolucent area in the
anterior mandibular region. The patient was submitted
to marsupialization and the microscopic exam showed
an odontogenic keratocyst. After one year, the lesion,
with a smaller size, was enucleated. The patient is being
followed-up for five years and no clinical or radiological
evidences of recurrence have been found.
