CT Sialography: a review of the literature and case report
Abstract
CT sialography is an excellent method for observation
and evaluation of salivary gland tumors. The purpose of this study is to review the literature regarding CT sialography, describing its acquisition protocol through a case report and discuss its advantages and contraindications. 33-year-old male patient, presenting a well defined, painless swelling, in the region of the left parotid gland. The association between the use of a contrast media and the tomographic technique allowed for a more precise evaluation of the lesion boundaries. However, contrast media should be used with caution considering its possible adverse reactions.
