Abstract

HIV infection involves the dentistry due to the high frequency of oral lesions associated to this condition, some of them associated with the progression of the infection. The use of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) in HIV-infected children has shown positive results, significantly reducing the prevalence of oral lesions. However, some adverse effects have been associated with the use of this therapy. Thus, this study aimed to conduct a review of the literature on the effects of HAART on the oral manifestations of pediatric patients infected with HIV.
