Abstract

The humidity into root canal system may interfere with the perfect sealing of the filling. The absorbent paper points are the latest material to be inserted before the root canal filling. In this context, instruments and materials should also be free of microorganisms that may contribute to the establishment and persistence of periapical diseases. The aim of this study was to evaluate the presence of microbial contamination in three brands of absorbent paper points named sterile. We evaluated Dentsply, Endopoints and Roeko packages. Conclusion: Dentsply and Roeko brands showed no contamination. Endopoints showed contamination in all samples.
